There are a lot of different people in the Canadian Armed Forces that come back from service with different levels of stress. Often this is stress that they have either endured on the battlefield, or a variety of other Post Traumatic type stress that has occurred during their service.
A new clinic that will focus on assisting Canadian Veterans is opening near Montreal it was announced on Wednesday. Greg Thompson, the Minister of Veterans Affairs for Canada was pleased to announce the opening and establishment of the new, modern facility that will be located near Montreal.
The facility is the first of its kind, and it will be at the Veterans Hospital that is located in at Sainte-Anne-De-Bellevue. Because of the nature of Post Traumatic Stress, the new clinic facility was carefully designed to accommodate the different expected needs that patients that deal with this type of issue require.
This is something that the Veterans Community has long asked for, so there are a lot of pleased people regarding the opening of the new clinic. This will give Veterans a facility they can receive treatment from where they can relax and share. The issue of Post Traumatic Stress is one that is constantly being expanded, and as new techniques and procedures in assisting Veterans is learned, then the information can be used to help the people that have bravely served the Canadian people.
This new clinic will be innovative and can accommodate up to 10 patients at a time per day, and they will be able to stay for up to 60 days, around 8 weeks. It is designed for members of the Canadian Armed Forces, Royal Canadian Mounted police Veterans, and other Canadian Veterans in a residential supportive environment.
Issues that are often encountered when assisting Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress include depression, other types of social or anxiety disorders, drug addiction, or other medical issues. This is a residential fully medically supported treatment facility that will break new ground in the compassionate and supportive care of Veterans dealing with these issues.
Often Veterans that have served the Canadian people return home and neither their families, their fellow soldiers, or the medical facilities and personnel that evaluated them realize that they have suffered intense stress. Its often only after being home for several weeks, even months that the symptoms can sometimes manifest.
For this reason the new clinic facility was designed, to help those that find themselves suddenly overwhelmed. It is designed to assist Veterans with different stress and Post Traumatic Stress issues.
